Aaron Ramsdale has left Arsenal to join Southampton for a fee believed to be in the region of £25million.
Ramsdale lost his place as Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper following David Raya’s arrival last season. And was consistently linked with a move away from the club. The
26-year-old eventually left the Emirates on deadline day to join Saints. Ramsdale
will cost the Saints £18m in an initial deal, plus a £1m bonus. If they stay up until the end of the season and a further £6m in add-ons.
“I’ve been absolutely delighted. The way the manager wants to play, the way he talks to me, he’s got such an enthusiasm. I’ve never met him before but he makes me feel proud of myself,” said Ramsdale.
“It’s made the transition easier for me and my family to come back down south. So I feel I’ll hit the ground running. “

Ramsdale rose through the ranks at Sheffield United before moving to Bournemouth and becoming the team’s number one in the 2019-20 season.
He then returned to Sheffield United and, despite playing in every game, failed to save the club from relegation from the Premier League.
However, his form caught the eye of the Gunners and he was signed in 2021, making 89 appearances for the club over the course of three years.
